Characteristic:Titanium Carbide is an extremely hard (Mohs 9-9.5) refractory ceramic material, similar to tungsten carbide.
Application:

Titanium Carbide is mainly used to prepare cermets, which are frequently used to machine steel materials at high cutting speed. Heat-resistance, corrosion resistance and resistance to oxidation of hard alloy can be improved clearly when TiC(6-30%) is mixed in WC-Co cemented carbide and form TiC-WC solid solution with WC. It is also used as a heat shield for re-entry to the atmosphere of space shuttles or other similar vehicles. It can be polished and used in scratch-proof watches. If etching is requested, titanium carbide can be etched by reactive ion etching process.
